We had our first Parent/teacher conference and Gracie
received her very first progress report :o)
She is doing wonderfully academically but is having some difficulties adjusting. According to her teachers, she is very shy and finds it difficult to communicate her wants and needs. We were surprised to hear that, actually we were shocked to hear that! We were "worried" they were going to complain due to Gracie wanting to “take over” the classroom and wanting to tell the teachers what to do and how to do it (LOL)! She is usually reserved around strangers but she has been in school since August...Other than that she is doing first grade work! She’s only 4!!! She is reading, adding, subtracting you name it she is doing it. She is kind and love to help others (we already know that :o). Not bragging, we are just so proud of her accomplishments!
She likes school and is making friends but her main struggle is separating and adjusting without us. If she needs anything she will wait until she comes home and ask us rather than ask the teacher! We hope to help her somehow deal with separation. We always tell her she is safe at school and it is OK for her to talk to her teachers but that doesn’t help much. She would not even accept a Band-Aid from the teacher, she rather wait until she’s home and let us take care of her boo-boo :o( We understand the underlying reason of why she is behaving that way, we just don’t know how to help her. We pray she is able to overcome this issue soon. We don’t want her struggling or uncomfortable in any way just waiting for us :o(
Doing Homework :o)
This is the first book she read :o) She is reading more advanced books now...
And here she is with her best friend! She adores this kid (not exaggerating)All she talks about is... Let's call him "Mr. J" It gets so bad we have to lovingly redirect the conversation. There are times we have to directly tell her we are not talking about Mr. you know who any more...Daddy is getting a bit jealous :o)
Oh I left the best for last...
I get a hand-made necklace every day from my baby girl! She beams with pride everyday when she puts one around my neck and every single day I feel like the luckiest Mommy in the whole wide world!
Everyday after she kisses me good-bye she tells me "I'm going to make another necklace for you! :o) Her goal is to make 100 (we haven't counted them but she is getting pretty close :o)
We adore this girl! Our lives are so much more
fulfilled and crazy-happy and all because of her!
